What is skin Pigmentation ?
Melasma
What is it? - Melasma is a hyperpigmentary disorder of the skin characterized by
dark spots or blotches on the face, and neck.
Who is likely to get it? - About 5 to 6 million American women have Melasma,
mostly women between the ages of 20 to 39. It occurs in 50 to 70% of pregnant
women.
What causes it? - It is triggered by both sun exposure and hormonal changes
during pregnancy.
What can I do about it? It may fade naturally, but there are treatments to
consider if it doesn't.
Solar Lentigines
What is it? - or called sun, age, or liver spots, are benign flat brown spots
that look like large brown freckles. They appear on sun-exposed skin, such as
the face or back of the hands.
Who is likely to get it? - 90% of light skinned people over the age of 60
develop the condition. In general, those who are most likely to have solar
lentigines are people who have a tendency to sunburn and tan little or not at
all (skin types 1 and 2).
What causes it? - It is a skin condition caused by chronic exposure to the sun
or UV rays.
Vitiligo
What is it? - is a hypopigmentation disorder (where the body does not produce
enough melanin) that creates smooth white spots on the skin.
Who is likely to get it? - The condition affects nearly 2% of the population,
typically striking those between the ages of 10 and 30, and is most prevalent
among those with darker skin.
What causes it? - It's unknown. Though many people report pigment loss shortly
after severe sunburn, the cause is likely a combination of genetic, immunologic
and neurogenic factors.

Testimonials
I hated my ugly brown spots
“As a middle aged woman I was starting to become very self-conscious about
”sun-spots” that began to appear on my cheeks. These were no cute, endearing
freckles; they were big, ugly brown spots -and I hated them. I say “hated”
because after around 7 weeks of using Dermabrite cream, I can’t see them at all
anymore! I feel more confident and the cream has made my skin feel soft and
smooth too! I’ve even started getting compliments on how much younger I’m
looking. What a great cream!”
Evelyn, Castle Hill
I can barely see my freckles at all!
“I’ve had freckles on my nose since I was 15.I thought that I would be stuck
with them for life. So you can image my surprise when after just 5 weeks with
Dermabrite, I could barely see my freckles at all. Thanks Skin Doctors! I
finally have the even complexion I’ve always dreamed of!”
Lee, Bondi

Bearberry - a new type of skin de-pigmentation and lightening agent is the
extract of Bearberry plant. Bearberry contains the active ingredient Arbutin
that is very popular in Japan and other Asian countries for skin
de-pigmentation. Arbutin can be used to whiten the skin, to prevent liver spots
and freckles, to treat sunburn marks and to regulate melanogenesis.
Arbutin protects the skin against damage caused by free radicals. Arbutin is a
skin whitening agent, it can inhibit the formation of melanin pigment by
inhibiting Tyrosinase activity.
Arbutin is a very safe skin agent for external use. It does not have toxicity,
stimulation, unpleasant odour or side effects such as Hydroqinone
Arbutin has 3 main benefits:-
Whitening effects
Anti-age effects
UVB/UVC filter
Retinyl Palmitate - is the most important natural derivative of Vitamin A.
Vitamin A is the first vitamin to be used topically for the treatment of damaged
human skin. Vitamin A stimulates mitotic activity and the production of collagen
- the material skin is made of. It is now known that the clinical effect
obtained with high doses of Vitamin A is necessary for normal differentiation
and maintenance of epithelial tissues. Vitamin A helps to renew and exfoliate
the skin giving fresh, glowing, beautiful skin.
Liquorice - Liquorice extract (obtained from the root of Glycyrrhia Glabra Linneva)
is one of nature's most subtle yet effective skin lightening agents.
Glycyrrhetinic acid, isolated from Glycyrrihiza glabra (licorice) is widely used
in the cosmetic industry. Liquorice whitens by suppressing the formation of
melanin, the pigment responsible for skin discolouration. Over time the old
layer of the pigmented skin is replaced by whiter, creamier skin.
Salicylic acid - acts as an exfoliant removing dead skin layers and revealing
new, light glowing skin.
